To enable continued iron ore extraction in the Kiruna mine, parts of the city need to be relocated as part of the ongoing community transformation. On August 19-20, 2025, one of the most symbolic and technically challenging relocations will take place: the moving of the Kiruna Church, one of the city’s most beloved buildings.
